You’d think the guy who just missed the cut would be playing without his “A” game right? Well maybe, but you also know how fickle the game of golf is. Sometimes that horrible front nine gives way to a great back nine, and sometimes the week after missing a cut is a special week…
In 1999 Gabriel Hjertstedt missed the cut at the Nissan Open. Gabe played in the Saturday Series and found a little something he liked in his swing while warming up on the range. He played very well that day with us, and his amateur companions had a real thrill as they got to watch him on television the next week as he sank a 25 foot birdie putt on the first hole of a playoff to beat Tommy Armour III to win the Touchstone Energy Tucson Open.
2006 was a special year for the Saturday Series, with a number of the TOUR professionals who played with us notching victories later in the year on the PGA TOUR.
